American YES fest to take on ‘Exam’

Iranian award-winning short film ‘Exam’ has been picked to compete at the Columbus, Indiana YES Film Festival in the US.

The 10th edition of the American event will be a new venue for Sonia Haddad’s acclaimed short film to compete at.

The 15-minute short is the story of a high school girl who is stuck in a weird circle of drug dealing. On a stressful morning when she must take an exam, she has to overcome the worries of another dangerous mission too. She must deliver a pack of cocaine to a client. 

The cast list for ‘Exam’ includes Hadis Miramini, Sadaf Asgari, Masih Kazemi and Elaheh Afshari.

The short has already taken part in a number of global events, including the Sundance Film Festival in the US, the Port Land Int’l Film Festival in the US, the Tampere Film Festival in Finland, the Creteil Int’l Women’s Film Festival in France and the Palm Springs Int’l ShortFest in the US have been some of the global events that have already screened the short.

Haddad’s flick has won a number of prestigious awards such as the Special Jury Award for Best Actor at the Sundance Film Festival in the US, the best short at the Creteil Int’l Women’s Film Festival in France and the best live action short film at the Tirana Int’l Film Festival in Albania.

The Columbus, Indiana YES Film Festival is an arena for independent films, best documentaries, narrative features and short films to screen and compete for awards.

This year’s edition of the fest is slated for October 23-25.
